Lurreko Instrumentuak está escrito por la txalaparta, una tradición musical del país vasco en el norte de España. Esta tradición originó de un juego rítmico en donde una pareja improvisaron sobre su instrumento, siempre en alternancia, explorando posibilidades rítmicas y tímbricas. Los palos que se usan para tocar txalaparta, makilak, son de un forma cónica y se sujetan con el lado ancho de bajo.

Lurreko Instrumentuak requerirá un txalaparta construido de 5 materiales de longitud graduada. Los tablones se colocan en paralelo sobre dos soportes y aisladas con material como esponja o toallas gruesas para permitirles su mejor sonido. Los dos músicos se deben de posicionar más cerca al tablón más grande, esto será el fondo del instrumento.

Lurreko Instrumentuak is written for txalaparta, a rural percussion tradition from the Basque Country in northern Spain. This musical tradition began as a rhythmic game in which two or more players would improvise on their instrument, always in alternation, exploring both timbral and rhythmical possibilities. The implements used for txalaparta, makilak, are conically shaped dowels that are held vertically, large end on bottom, to play on the instrument.

Lurreko Instrumentuak will require a txalaparta constructed of 5 materials that are graduated in length to accommodate pitch relationships. They must be laid out in parallel over two supports cushioned by soft materials such as foam or thick towels to allow them to achieve their best sound. The performers should position themselves nearest board 1, this is the “bottom” of the instrument.
