When I was commissioned to write "Glass Figurines," I had a solid idea of the piece I wanted to write. When I discovered that it would be framed by more bold works, it seemed a fruitful opportunity to make a work that was especially vulnerable--like it might fracture in a light breeze. The work presents as a series of variations but the theme emerges later in the work rather than earlier. I sought to exhibit a set of minuscule, intricate, crystalline figures--each multidimensional and uniquely iridescent.
